MCLE 21st Annual Nonprofit Law Conference 2020

Nic will be co-presenting at MCLE’s 21st Annual Nonprofit Law Conference 2020 on International Philanthropy. She will share her insights of engaging in international philanthropy after serving as in-house counsel at philanthropies engaging in grant making all over the globe. She will also advise on the practicalities philanthropies face when providing grant awards to individuals and organizations around the world.

MCLE (Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education) aims to keep raising the caliber of lawyers’ professional and ethical service to their clients and communities, by providing comprehensive and practical continuing legal education of the highest quality to the broadest possible audience.

Private Foundations and Donor Advised Funds Can Get Along

Nic co-presented on the topic: “Private Foundations and Donor Advised Funds Can Get Along: Does a High Net-Worth Individual Need One or Both?” for the family office group of the NYS Society of CPAs. The conversation was held at the New York Community Trust, where Nic previously served as Associate General Counsel.

She discussed the benefits of each vehicle, the bright line issues that surround both, and how they can work together. Ask Nic about how each of these vehicles can work in your philanthropy.

Essential Skills and Strategies for New Grantmakers

Nic co-led a session for Philanthropy New York’s Essential Skills and Strategies for New Grantmakers course (ESS), which orients new program officers and directors to their roles as funders. This three-day intensive course helps philanthropy newcomers build a framework for understanding and implementing ethical and effective grant making. ESS is part of Philanthropy New York’s core offerings.

Nic will be co-leading a session on legal and ethical issues in grant making.

Keynote at CBMA’s Promise of Place Convening

Nic delivered the keynote at the Campaign for Black Male Achievement‘s Promise of Place convening in Detroit, Michigan.

She spoke about using Brave Infrastructure Design to create brave legacies of work and build the capacity of nonprofit leaders and organizations serving under-resourced communities.

The Campaign for Black Male Achievement is a national membership network that seeks to ensure the growth, sustainability, and impact of leaders and organizations committed to improving the life outcomes of Black men and boys.
